With their victory in Dunaújváros, the Vidi women’s team are champions!

On Sunday, our women’s team played a title deciding match of the season’s final league game at the home of their archrival, Dunaújváros, whom they had defeated 2–1 on their home pitch in the autumn. The stakes were clear: a victory would guarantee our team the gold medal.
Head coach Péter Andorka sent out the starting eleven of Kovács B. - Horváth M., Zuggó, Tóth A., Kollár - Forró, Janus, Kovács L., Bognár, Kántor - Hajdu.

Vidi's women's team dominated the first half, showing organized attacks and good defending at the same time. Our strong play quickly paid off: in the 11th minute, Krisztina Kántor received a good pass on the left side and scored a beautiful goal into the bottom of the net (0-1)! We maintained our lead confidently and went into halftime with a well-deserved advantage.

After the break, the wind favored the home team, but our girls continued to play with great determination, preventing Dunaújváros from creating any major scoring opportunities. Our goal scored in the 11th minute turned out to be the game-winner, and with this 1-0 victory, our women’s team won the NB II West group and earned the right to compete in NB I.

Sunday’s promotion to the second division marks the second time in Videoton’s women’s team history that we’ve achieved this; we also earned promotion as champions in 2022 and competed in the top division for two years.
