José Gomes is the new manager of Videoton FC

José Manuel Martins Teixeira Gomes, who was most recently at Greek club Panathinaikos, who were one of the teams that the legendary Ferenc Puskas managed, has been named as the new manager of Videoton FC. He has been a coach over the last ten years for Portuguese club sides Porto and Benfica, as well as part of the coaching staff at Spanish first division side Malaga.

José Gomes has signed a two and a half year deal with the option of a further one year extension.

“I believe that José Gomes' own conception will be able to carry on carry on the good work, which Paulo began for both Videoton FC and the Puskas Academy on the international stage." - announced Istvan Garancsi, the owner of Videoton FC.

O treinador Portugues (42) chegou no treino de campo do Videoton no domingo á noite.

O último clube do José Manuel Martins Teixeira Gomes foi o ex-clube do Ferenc Puskás, o Panathinaikos onde ele trabalhava primeiro como treinador assistente, mas durante a temporada 2011-12 ele era técnico do time. Nos últimos 10 anos ele trabalhava em clubes de prestige como o Porto, a Benfica e a Malaga da La Liga da Espanha.

O Videoton assinou José Gomes para 2.5 plus 1 anos.

"Tenho certeza que José Gomes, aplicando a sua própria concepcão, vai continuar o mesmo trabalho e mentalidade que nos comecamos com o Paulo Sousa uma ano e meio atrás para transformar o Videoton e Puskás Academia um clube e academia da nível Europeu" disse István Garancsi, o dono do Videoton FC.
